Internet calls with VIP Plus Service (VoIP)

2 min

Internet calls transmit both incoming and outgoing call traffic via an internet connection. The VIP Plus service supports internet calls (VoIP), meaning that both incoming and outgoing calls are routed over your internet connection (WiFi or mobile data). This feature is especially useful in situations where mobile network coverage is weak, or when you are abroad — helping you save on international call costs. When you activate the mobile application, you can choose whether to use internet calls.

To enable VoIP calls, you will need

•    Mobile application
•    Access to WiFi or mobile data network

Enabling and disabling internet calls

  1. Open the VIP Plus mobile application
  2. Swipe from left to right and select Settings
  3. Turn Internet calling on or off using the toggle switch

NOTE! The quality and configuration of your internet connection can affect the sound quality and/or performance of calls. Depending on your device manufacturer and/or software version, the call history on your phone may be incomplete. However, you can view the history of your internet calls in the Call Log menu of the mobile application. Additionally, the ringtone is different for internet calls and cannot be changed.

Alternatively, internet calls can be used via the Telia WiFi Calling add-on service, which requires an extra fee. To use the WiFi Calling service, the user must have a device and subscription that support internet calls.
